These back fingers (edge fingers) mount at the rear of the ringing machine and support the trailing edge of each cardboard ring as it is pressed onto the cans. Together with the front application fingers, they keep every ring seated square and tight.

What is the difference between front fingers and back fingers?
Front fingers press the ring down over the can necks; back fingers brace the rear edge so the ring stays aligned through the press stroke. Machines running daily should keep spares of both on hand.
